Seventh Sunday of Easter

  • All Saints Episcopal Church 651 Eucalyptus Avenue Vista, CA 92084 United States (map)

You are warmly invited to join us for worship on the Seventh Sunday of Easter, May 17 at 9:30am.

Dear Friends,

This week’s Gospel comes from John 17:1–11, where we hear Jesus’ prayer as he looks toward heaven and entrusts his followers to God’s care. It is a powerful moment of connection—between Jesus and the Father, and between Christ and all who are called to continue his work in the world.

As we gather in this season of Easter, we are reminded that we are held in that same prayer—called into unity, love, and purpose.

We hope you will join us for this meaningful time of worship, reflection, and community.

All are welcome.

Peace,
All Saints’ Episcopal Church

Readings this week are:
Acts 17:22-31
Psalm 66:7-18
1 Peter 1 Peter 3:13-22
John 14:15-21

About the Artwork: “Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come;Contemporary illustration (artist unknown)

This piece captures a moment of quiet power—Jesus, arms raised and face turned upward, drawn into prayer. The upward gaze immediately echoes the opening of John 17, where Jesus “looks up to heaven” and speaks directly to the Father. Here, that gesture becomes the focal point: not distance, but connection.

The bold contrast of colors and the radiating halo suggest both glory and intimacy. Jesus stands between earth and heaven, embodying the unity he speaks of in the Gospel—his oneness with the Father, and his desire that his followers may share in that same unity. The open posture of his arms feels both like offering and embrace, holding together his mission and the people entrusted to him.

Rather than a private moment, the image invites us into the prayer itself. We are drawn into that upward gaze, reminded that this is not only Jesus’ prayer, but one spoken for us—grounded in love, sustained in relationship, and reaching always toward God.
