Fourth Sunday of Easter

  • All Saints Episcopal Church 651 Eucalyptus Avenue Vista, CA 92084 United States (map)

Alleluia! Easter joy continues as we gather for the Fourth Sunday of Easter on April 26.

This week’s Gospel from John 10:1–10 offers the comforting and powerful image of Jesus as both the shepherd and the gate—the one who knows us, calls us by name, and leads us into abundant life.

“I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”

In a world filled with competing voices, how do we recognize the voice of the one who truly knows and loves us? And what does it mean to trust that voice enough to follow?

Join us as we reflect on Christ’s promise of protection, guidance, and fullness of life—and consider how we are being called to live more deeply into that abundance.

We look forward to worshiping with you.

Readings this week are:
Acts 2:42-47
Psalm 23
1 Peter 2:19-25
John 10:1-10

About the Artwork: I Am the Gate by Peter Koenig

In Peter Koenig’s I Am the Gate, we encounter a simple but powerful image that speaks directly to the words of Jesus in Gospel of John 10:1–10: “I am the gate. Whoever enters by me will be saved… and find pasture.”

The gate in this painting is not grand or imposing. It is humble—almost easy to miss—yet it marks the place of safety, belonging, and life. Like the sheep in the Gospel, we are invited to pass through it, not as a restriction, but as an act of trust in the shepherd’s voice.

In this Easter season, the image deepens. The gate becomes a sign of resurrection life—a passage from fear into peace, from wandering into being gathered in. Christ is both the one who welcomes and the way by which we enter.

As we reflect on this Gospel, Koenig’s work gently reminds us: the gate is before us, and the invitation is open—to step into the abundant life Christ promises.
