Third Sunday in Lent

  • All Saints Episcopal Church 651 Eucalyptus Avenue Vista, CA 92084 United States (map)

You are warmly invited to join us at All Saints this Sunday for the Third Sunday in Lent.

Our service begins at 9:30 a.m. and features the Gospel from John 4:5–42, the story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well. In this powerful encounter, Jesus offers “living water” — grace that refreshes, restores, and transforms.

As we continue our Lenten journey, we invite you to come and reflect on what it means to thirst for God and to be filled with hope. Gather with us for scripture, prayer, Eucharist, music, and meaningful community.

Whether you worship with us in person or online, you are always welcome.

Readings this week are:
Exodus 17:1-7
Psalm 95
Romans 5:1-11
John 4:5-42

About the Artwork: Christ at the Well by Peter Koenig

Peter Koenig’s Christ at the Well beautifully brings to life the encounter between Jesus and the Samaritan woman in John 4:5–42, our Gospel for this Sunday. In this evocative image, Jesus is shown not as distant or removed, but engaged — face-to-face — with a woman whose life has known weariness and longing. Koenig’s use of color, expression, and space draws the viewer into the moment of transformation, reminding us that Christ meets us in the everyday places of thirst and need.

In the Episcopal tradition, sacred art serves as more than decoration — it invites participation in the story and reflection on its meaning for our lives today. Christ at the Well encourages us to slow down, to see ourselves in that conversation, and to hear afresh Jesus’ offer of “living water” that satisfies the soul. As we gather for worship and hear this Gospel proclaimed, may this image deepen our prayer and our awareness of Christ’s presence with us.
