Fourth Sunday in Lent

  • All Saints Episcopal Church 651 Eucalyptus Avenue Vista, CA 92084 United States (map)

You are warmly invited to join us at All Saints for worship on the Fourth Sunday in Lent.

Our service begins at 9:30 a.m. and features the Gospel reading from John 9:1–41, the powerful story of Jesus healing the man born blind. In this Lenten season, we are invited to reflect on what it means to truly see — to recognize Christ at work in our lives and in the world around us.

Come for scripture, prayer, live music, and Holy Eucharist as we continue our journey toward Easter. Whether you join us in person or online, you are always welcome.

Readings this week are:
1 Samuel 16:1-13
Psalm 23
Ephesians 5:8-14
John 9:1-41

About the Artwork: Jesus Cures the Man Born Blind (from the Jesus Mafa series)

The Jesus Mafa interpretation of “Jesus cures the man born blind” — drawn from John 9:1–41, our Gospel for this Sunday — invites us into a vivid, human encounter with Christ’s healing presence. In this image, Jesus meets one marginalized not only by physical blindness but by a society quick to judge and slow to see. The compassionate gaze and grounded realism of the work draw us into the moment of transformation, where sight is restored and understanding begins to blossom.

In the Episcopal tradition, sacred art is a form of gospel witness: more than illustration, it opens a window into the story we proclaim in worship. This piece helps us ponder what it means to be given sight — not only for the eyes but for the heart — and challenges us to consider how Christ calls us to see one another with deeper compassion and clarity. As we reflect on this Gospel together, may the image enrich our prayer and inspire us to seek the light of Christ in every part of our lives.
